Can we post pictures of ourselves, so we know who we are talking to? Just an idea. I'll post "me" first I think any picture will do - we are not here to judge.

If you don't know now to post a picture, send it to me and I can upload it for you on a web site - or you can do it yourself by joining. There are many free sites out there. I use digitalpose.com You have to have the picture on your hard drive though.

Well, T., any photographic evidence of my existence is from about a hundred years ago, because ever since I got FAT, I have purposely dodged any type of photo whatsoever. In fact, the last and hopefully only fat photo of me is as when I was maid of honor at my best friend's wedding back in Maryland and that was many moon's ago. The dress was this hideous deep "swimming pool blue" I called it--you know how some pools have the concrete painted a, like, BRIGHT blue? Well, that was this dress! Anyway, she showed me the photo, and I was, like: Okay, now if I am ever nominated for Supreme Court Justice or run for Prez, you can blackmail me!
Therefore, I will pick out a very OLD photo of me to send to you. And I'll have to get a copy made, as ....ooooooh, wait a minute! My friend Stan has a bunch of pics of my house that I took after it was painted, that he was supposed to send or bring me back months ago, but he is such a STAN that he has not returned them (he's an artist and wanted to borrow them because the "light is so beautiful in your neighborhood, I have to paint this!"). I could call him and lay on the guilt and say that it would all be okay and forgiven if he also includes a copy of a certain photo of me and some buds taken up in Vermont which turned out okay. That is pretty much the latest photo I've allowed to be taken of me. It is only a few decades old *LOL*!
Anyway, I'm on the case...it is either that photo or I'm afraid you will have to go all the way back to summer camp, circa the 1970's to find a photo of me. Other than driver's license (fuggedaboutit) or ID type stuff.

P.S. T, how come any and all photos of you or by you usually involve a car somehow?
When I get my MINI Cooper or Fiat, we are definitely going on a ROAD TRIP to OC, as I'll no doubt be taking her out on the open road, which will no doubt lead me homeward, too see buds, reassure myself that I still hate Rockville Pike, and of course to return to Ocean City. In the book on tape Sarah B. just sent me, called "Notes from a Small Island", at the very end, the author, who loves Britain and has a particular thing for one particular view in one spot, waxes poetic about how sad he felt, standing there, knowing he was leaving for the states. But he said he felt better when he realized and said out loud, "I'll be back". Funny, hearing him describe that, I realized that uttering that phrase must be the universal way to recognize when you feel such a kinship with a place that it is "home" for you, because that is just exactly what I have always, since I was a wee sprout, said out loud to the ocean upon leaving OC. "I'll be back."
Dang, how did I get onto OC AGAIN? It's that time of year, I think. 'Tis the season to wax nostalgic about OC.
Anyway, if you see a tiny Fiat or MINI pull up, you will know it is I, off to wisk you off for a fun-filled weekend of SWIMMING in the ocean!
Meanwhile, I'll dig up a photo to send. Might take a while.

I guess I'd have to have some sort of scanner or digital camera to get any picture of me onto the web or even onto my hard drive!! I have seen no acceptable photos of me for several years anyway, but if I get one I'll see if I can find some way of doing this at work where there used to be a scanner in my last office but one.
Meanwhile you'll have to be content with a description.
I am 5'8", fluctuate between 9 & 9 1/2 stone (126-133 LB), have mid-light brown short hair, large hazel eyes, small mouth, pallid complexion, slightly crooked nose. I wear glasses (small & vaguely rectangular at present). My hair used to be dead straight & silky but is now a bit wavy & fluffy because of chemo. I used to have a good figure but now my tum is rather flabby & I have lost weight from bust (well, remains thereof) & hips & added it onto my abdomen.

Wait a minute, T, I'm confusigated: If we just send you an "old school" photo, i.e., an actual photo on film ala Eastman-Kodak, can you scan it into a .jpg and post it, OR when you say we can "send" you a photo, are you meaning we can e-send you a .jpg? Because now that Malibu Barbie left my office, I no longer have a bud who will scan a photo on the QT, and in the current clime here, I don't dare ask anyone to scan a glamor shot of me for posting on the web! Can I just send you a regular, old photo, via snail mail?
Meanwhile, following in Blakeney's footsteps, I'll tell you all a little, but NOT my actual weight (perish the thought). I have brown eyes, brown hair with warm reddish tones/highlights. I'm kinda petite in the height department, being only 5'4-3/4" tall. Thanks to my dad, my legs are short and my trunk is long, resulting in what I call the "fun house mirror look". In other words, I am sort of the opposite of Susan Anton or Christine Baranksi as far as having legs that go on forever. No, I have the stub variety of legs (LOL, sounds attractive, no?) and a long torso. I used to be kinda purty in my day, eye-wise, and cheekbone-wise, and hair-wise, but dear Lord, I don't know what happened, but whew, any photo I send will be of the antique variety! Were I to send a non-existent recent one, you might all expire from the sheer horror of it.

My home page is linked on everyone of my emails. Just click on the little house icon and you will get way more photos and info than you would ever want about a stranger on the internet.
Ya, nice pic Karen.
It is a good idea, though, to see whom we are speaking to. Your pictures only look bad to you, if at all. Kinda like when you hear your own voice on a recording.

Edna,
If you have photos on a 35mm camera to be developed, most film processing places can put them onto a disk for your computer. No digital camera or scanner needed. I know Wal-Mart will do it, but I'm not sure how much they charge.

Joli is adorable! I'd put more exclamation points after that, but I think they turn into one of the smilies, so I'll stick with one *L*. My, but we're a good-looking bunch! I'm getting even more of an inferiority complex about sending in a photo. Plus, I'll have to scan it, which presents another problem, as instead of a simpatico co-worker who was wonderful being in the cubicle with the scanner, I now have a no-nonsense type (I hate no-nonsense types, as I come replete with a very high concentration of nonsense in me!) manning that cubicle and thus overseeing the scanner. No doubt she would not look favorably on me scanning a glamour pic of myself, HOWEVER, I just learned this a.m. that she will be gone for a week in August, so if I can get the picture from Stan before then (big if), maybe I can scan it and then e-mail it to T. Otherwise, I'll scan a different one, but it will be even older. I'm telling you, there are basically no pictures of me in existence since I left college. Once I blimped out, I began to shun the camera lens. Anyway, I'll get something to Thomas. Might be a kindergarten photo, though *LOL*!
Meanwhile, KF, Jean, Joli, and T, you all look maaaahvelous, dahlinks (...and, in the immortal words of SNL's maaaahvelous "Fernando": "You know, it is better to look good than to feel good, my friends." LOL! Sincerely, Fernando!)

P.S. Joli, you look amazingly like a Russian girl I was roomies with on an Israeli Kibbutz in the summer of 1983. If you don't mind my asking, what nationality are you? My friend's last name was Tsaliovitch and she was from, I believe, Kiev. You look uncannily like her! Where are you from originally?

What a great idea, Thomas. And so nice to see those who have posted pictures so far. If I can find a way to post one, I will. Otherwise, I will do as Jodi has and send it to Thomas to post. Great picture Jodi!! And good pictures of the rest of you too. I feel like I know Jodi.. as we used to email.
I have a suggestion to go along with this. Most of us may be posting pictures from a few years ago. If we could include the date of the picture that would help.
The only one I would care to share with the world is from 6 years ago.

“who” was it that asked “when” the picture was taken?? what a spoil sport.. I love that picture of the days when all in life was possible.. when I look at it my self I see the enormous change that happened inside of me .. and as I see it..it not for the better.. life and pain took a toll.. but my love for life is still clearly visible in that shot taken over Paris by my then friend and lover..it was nice of him to have sent it to me just recently via email..
As for where I am from.. I thought everyone knows.. Switzerland.. and moved to the US eons ago.. never even been to Kiev.. but hey I don't care if you see a resemblance then all I can say is ‘she was a great gal.. full of life and happyness .. on the inside..’
and even then I had grief all my young days.. but that is not a story for here and now.. I have another picture I love and if ever I can scan it then I will send that toooooooo.. Thomas had a great idea... truth and fiction not withstanding.. Joli

As for looking not as we would like today.. let us not judge anyone least we misjudge ourselves and deprive others of knowing who we are, would like to be or have been.
We were given what we have today and if we can find it in our heart to see beauty in others, surely others can see beauty in us.. just the way we are .. no more no less.
And another thing .. no matter what someone with greater wisdom then our own self would have it.. and made others ‘like’ ‘us’ no matter who or what we are. no more, no less just us, in who and what we struggle with and what we take joy in.. life is full of sweet stuff and full of tears for a darn reason I don’t know.. sometimes all we have to give is caring and sharing.. not with others but our very own self.. so keep the picks coming .. you never know what may come of it... we may just turn the table and see into our reflection not what is but what others allow us to see..

For some reason, the picture isn't coming up. Here's a link to my photo page.
